Just want to comment on some things that I am hearing/reading about in the media...you know, news of a sort.

So...first off I just want to say, what the fuck is up with these memo's we keep hearing about? Okay, so there was a memo that circulated regarding a possible attack on the U.S. from the Al Quaida using airplanes or something or other, before 9/11. And then there was the memo circulating stating that the Geneva convention didn't have to apply to us anymore when it came to torturing war prisoners to get information.

What I want to know is...why the hell were these things just "Memos?" Isn't all of that shit worthy of a little sit down discussion? Perhaps a luncheon, or even a light brunch? I would think that things that involved the security of this great nation (Please, wave the flag and sing My Country 'Tis of Thee...that's American!) would be discussed outside of a Memo.

Do these people only communicate with Memos and if they see each other in Public... does the guy who knows about the possibilty of a terroist attack just thinks to him/herself, "Gee, I wonder if he got that memo about the kamakazi passenger planes...Oh well?"

And really, "The Geneva Convention doesn't apply to us...?" Come on, can you do that? I mean if we can do that on an international level, why not do it within the nation...I bet if we allowed police officers to beat the shit out of detainees they would get a hell of a lot more information out of them. Why not? Maybe strip them naked, and force them to masturbate, or maybe force them to pee on a crucifix and yell out, "Fuck Jesus Christ!"

Anyway, and in the news...

"Bush administration lawyers contended last year that the president wasn't bound by laws prohibiting torture and that government agents who might torture prisoners at his direction couldn't be prosecuted by the Justice Department.

The advice was part of a classified report on interrogation methods prepared for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld after commanders at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, complained in late 2002 that with conventional methods they weren't getting enough information from prisoners. "

(an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal, author Jess Bravin)

Okay...so they decided to torture them because they weren't getting enough info from the prisoners. Isn't that probably one of the main reasons why other countries...the BAD countries begin to torture prisoners, too? To get them to talk...and now all of a sudden it's okay for us to do it? What the fuck?

Sure, the BAD countries get a kick out of torture, so that makes them super evil....that and most of them don't worship the same God...that, of course makes them "unsaveable." Anyway, I digress. On the "get a kick out of torture" thing, Did you see the picture of the chick giving a thumbs up. She didn't look like it was "hard on the soul," to humiliate those solidiers. She was having a good time.

She was having a good time.

So, don't give me any more bullshit about "rogue soldiers" running amuck and torturing prisoners unbeknownst to the "higher ups." The higherups were talking about it in Memos, baby, because they didn't give a shit.

I know it sounds harsh, but I am starting to think it's the case. Our politicians, the ones we elect, are so far removed from the desicions that they make, all of the humanitarian ideals are wiped from their desicion-making. Power is making policies, and the greater good for ALL the people they represent is not being taken into account. But, you bet your ass Money is.

Tonight on the "Daily Show," they showed a clip of Bush talking about the "Abu Ghraib prison tortures" (cuz it's contained there...) and he said Abu Ghreef. With an "F." It appeared as if he didn't know how to pronounce it...which I suppose makes sense if all the info he has on the prison are the Memos or perhaps the lovely White House Edtion 2005 Calendar. I suppose when he reads he assumes the letter B makes an "F" sound as in what the "Fuck!?"

I joke cause it scared the shit out of me...call it a self-defense mechanism, like hedgehogs with their quills.

Well, I have rambled on way too much...and I said I was going to talk about the news. Ha! Talk about Soap Boxin'! Yes, I am aware.

The other day my friend, Hillbop asked me, "Jason, we talk politics and we follow what's going on, and want to see a change...why don't we get active?"

"Because we are lazy."

"Oh, yeah."
